Junee coach Matt Hands thought his team scored a huge win over Albury.

An undermanned Junee scored a crucial win over Albury on Sunday to keep their finals hopes.

The Diesels gave their top five chances a boost with a 18-4 victory at Laurie Daley Oval.

They led 12-0 at half-time and continued to dominate in the second half.

Captain-coach Matt Hands was pleased by how the team continued to fight despite having seven players backing up from reserve grade.

He thought the result was massive in terms of where their season is at.

“If we lost to them it was nearly our finals done and dusted so in the big scheme of things it is massive,” Hands said. “It now gives us that little bit of confidence going forward.”

Despite the result Albury remain in fifth spot, but are now only ahead of the Diesels on points differential.

However their fresh start under Josh Cale didn’t go as planned with sacked coach Tuki Jackson playing off the bench.
