Despite Narrandera winning the third quarter three goals to one, Leeton-Whitton racked up a cricket score, prevailing 31.12 (198) to 7.7 (49) at Narrandera Sportsground.
We’ve shown when we play the brand of footy we want to play how dangerous we can be.
- Crows' coach Jade Hodge
The Crows had 14 different individual goalkickers with mid-season recruit Sean Wilkinson and Daniel Muir leading the way with five apiece.
Leeton-Whitton started with a seven-goal opening term, and managed 12 and 11 in huge second and fourth quarters.
Leeton-Whitton coach Jade Hodge said O’Garey’s game was one of the best he’s seen.
“It was the best game I’ve ever seen him play. I would have loved to have seen how many centre clearances he had,” Hodge said.
Aside from O’Garey, Hugh Collins, Matt Rainbird and Wilkinson were all among the Crows’ better players.
Three goals contributed to O’Garey’s stellar overall performance on Saturday and established yet again he is a cornerstone of the Crows game.
Hodge said it was a pretty good performance from his team.
He was not going to allow a 149-point victory overshadow his pursuit the premiership and continued to look for areas the Crows could improve.
“It was pleasing with a lot of things but there was still 15 to 20 minutes in the third quarter where we went away from what we want to do,” he said.
“We got a bit cocky, got ahead of ourselves but other than that, we had a pretty consistent game.
“For three quarters we played our style of footy.
“We could have made it hard for ourselves, as we did against Turvey, but we got it out in the open which helped a lot.
“We’ve shown when we play the brand of footy we want to play how dangerous we can be.
“Now the challenge for us is that consistency.”
Leeton-Whitton’s Neil Irwin and Narrandera’s Phil Aumann were both reported in separate incidents. Irwin for allegedly charging Michael Foster, while Aumann for allegedly striking Daniel Muir.
The only other concern for the Crows was a shoulder injury to ruckman Mason Dryburgh.
The Crows now set their focus on their next match against Coolamon.
