Anne Phegan will take over as the Riverina branch president of the Country Women’s Association in July.
At the 95th annual state conference in May, outgoing president Ann Adams was elected unopposed as the honourary state secretary, leaving the position open.
As Mrs Adams prepares to step into her new role, Ms Phegan will also have her work cut out as the new head.
On Tuesday, the group hosted a luncheon, giving thanks to Mrs Adams for “all of her hard work” and welcoming Ms Phegan to the role.
Publicity officer Julie Morrison said more than 60 members attended.
“It was really a chance to congratulate Ann after more than 50 years of service, on her new state position,” Ms Morrison said.
Ms Phegan has been a CWA member for countless years and has previously been a secretary and treasure, among other roles.
