A crowd of about 3000 people are expected to hit the track for the annual Kurrajong charity race day.
It has already been a busy month for MTC with the running of another successful Gold Cup carnival and chief executive Scott Sanbrook expects another strong turn out on Saturday.
“We should get close to 3000. It should be our third biggest social race day crowd of the year,” Sanbrook said.
“Last year we had 2000 and there were no races and it rained all day. The forecast is for better weather so the crowd numbers should be very strong.”
The track received 16 millimetres of rain last Friday when the race meeting was lost. Only another millimetre of rain has fallen since and the track is rated a soft seven.
“The last six days we’ve had one millimetre of rain. We’ve been very fortunate because there has been a lot heavier falls in areas over the past few days,” Sanbrook said.
The meeting has been moved to the Riverside circuit due to another TAB meeting at Wagga six days later, on Friday week.
Sanbrook believes Saturday’s seven-race TAB card will offer competitive racing.
“It’s very strong. Obviously the extra prizemoney, going to $20,000 a race, has helped,” he said.
