Tenders for work on a stretch Gocup Road, an arterial between Tumut and the Hume Highway, were officially opened on Tuesday by the RMS.
The work is to upgrade the road between Doctors Hill and Halfway Hill. including two overtaking lanes, road widening and realignment, installing safety barriers and two permanent bus stops.
The state government has committed $70 million to upgrade the road, with work beginning in 2012.
Since Gocup Road upgrade work started, three projects have been completed at Meadow Creek, South Minjary and Quidong, with another three at Smarts Road, Quidong Corner and Stuckeys Creek in delivery.
The tender is expected to be awarded by the end of August, Wagga MP Daryl Maguire said.
