Wangaratta trainer Chris Davis described the win as ‘glorious’ after Forty Nine Riddles ($41.00) took out the $40,000 The Rules Club Queen of the South F&M Benchmark 70 Handicap (1400m).
Forty Nine Riddles paid $58.70 on the NSW TAB as Cory Parish got her home by a long neck in front of the Gai Waterhouse-trained Tough As Teak ($7.00).
Wagga mare Miss Farloo ($21.00) was a further long head back in third.
Davis said he was not surprised by the win.
“No, with Cory Parish on board, I thought we would go pretty close,” Davis said.
“Today she settled, at her last three she’s been ridden upside down.
“With Cory getting on, she finished off really well.”
Asked how it felt to win the Queen of the South, David replied with a smile.
“It’s glorious,” he said.
