While some have spent months preparing the perfect fashion combinations, many will be facing the last-minute morning rush.
Wagga Salvation Army volunteer Katie Campbell said fashion hats and jewellery have been selling like crazy in preparation for the big day.
“There are no rules when it comes to race day fashion and there are plenty of secrets to be found in op-shops," Ms Campbell said.
Former Lady of the Day fashions winner, Nardia Cooper, has shared her tips for those entering Fashions on the Field.
1. Pick one eye-catching item
For those hoping to smash the fashions competition, bold is the only way to go.
“A headpiece is definitely the way to go, but headbands and crowns are on trend for something more subtle,” Ms Cooper said.
“Whether it’s clothing or a headpiece, pick something to catch the attention of the judges.”
2. Follow the fashions criteria and dress to the weather
“For women, go for closed in shoes, stockings and headpiece, which is all winter based,” Ms Cooper said.
“Gloves are a must for women while men need to make sure their shoes are polished.
“Focus on accessories, whether it be an umbrella, a hat, raceboom, tie or pocket tie.”
3. Go for classic colour
Ms Cooper said the classic four winter colours are the way to go, but for those looking for something unusual, yellow is a big hit.
“Black and white is always the classic choice,” Ms Cooper said,
“Navy and burgundy are always a hit for winter racing.”
4. Match your hair style to your headpiece
As a qualified hairdresser, Ms Cooper has some advice for ladies hair.
“If your headpiece is quite detailed or big you want to keep the hair simple,a sleek pony or bun,” Ms Cooper said.
“A headband or crown looks good with hair up are down, waves are a good choice.”
5. Have fun
The pressure is on…but enjoy putting together and rocking your outfit on the day.
Confidence is the best accessory.
Fashions will be held after race two, three and four.
Entrants must register at the Kristopher Graydon Jewellers Fashions on the Field booths between 11am and 1pm.
