Harry was confirmed as the NSW and ACT champion in the Australia-wide Paper Plane Design Challenge earlier this week, after submitting a video of his beloved ‘Cruiser’.
The 10-year-old Illabo local has since won a trip to compete for the national title next month in Sydney, where the state champions will be judged on their plane’s ‘distance covered’ and ‘air time’ with the two results combined to determine a winner.
Harry said he had given the design of his plane a lot of thought before constructing it.
“I think it's weight at the front and its wide wings are what lets it cruise along,” he said.
He also believes the conditions at the national finals are likely to work in his favour.
“We’re doing it at a school and it might be in a hall, so it does fly much better inside,” he said.
