Wagga twins Claire and Hugh Robinson are as different as sweet and savoury.

The 12 year olds share a passion for cooking but specialise in very different cuisines.

Claire excels in sweet baked goods while Hugh treats the family to a savoury breakfast every second day.

Claire’s favourite thing to make is sugar-free choc mint slice, Anzac biscuits and banana chocolate muffins while Hugh loves cooking lamb shanks and roasted vegetables.

Their mum Alex Robinson is studying nutrition and wants to teach them skills for life.

“It’s something to fill in the time and it’s something you can enjoy and get better at,” Claire said.

“I think it’s important so when you grow up you’re not going to two-minute noodles and can cook a good meal.”

Mrs Robinson said it is important she teaches her children about what they can add to food rather than what to leave out.

She also does not mind the barrage of treats readily available.

“They make some amazing food and I’m loving it,” she said.

The children will join other budding cooks for Food I Am junior chef classes on Wednesday.

Children will make numerous dishes in two sessions and consume them at the end of the class.
