The city will transform into a beacon of light for thousands of locals and visitors on Saturday and Sunday night.
Installations will be projected along the riverside precinct and Church Street.
Organisers are resting their hopes on a 5000 strong attendance – with early ticket sales indicating numbers may well surpass that.
Illuminate coordinator Tim McMullen said the interest so far has proven the Wagga community will support marquee events.
“At this stage we’ve budgeted for about 2500 each day but it looks like it will be even bigger than that,” he said.
“We’re giving it a go and giving it our best shot and hopefully people come down to show their support.
“There’s a really good mixture of locally produced art and creations from Sydney, put into mind-blowing lighting installations and projections.”
The festival will also feature interactive exhibits.
Tickets are $10 per head, with children entering for free.
