Jackson faced life-threatening injuries after a car accident near Barmedman a week before Christmas 2015, and then a long period of rehabilitation.
However, the 23-year-old from Finley was finally back into football when he joined mates playing for Blighty in the Picola League (North West) last week.
“I took him down to Geelong and the club doctor got his headgear organised and he played his first game on Saturday,” Marcus’s father Darren Jackson said.
“He was just going to play in the back half of the season but he played a couple of practice games and ended up playing the first game, so he’s come a long way in 15 months.
“From that first day when he was given almost no hope of living, to being in a coma for 18 days, to now – he’s playing footy. So we’re very, very lucky.”
Marcus spent more than a month in hospital in Canberra before moving to Melbourne in late January, 2016, to begin rehabilitation.
He joined the Northern Jets in 2015 to play under his father, and played a full season, including kicking 19 goals in 16 games.
