After lacking numbers caused the school to fizzle out some years ago, teacher Melanie Spanos has reignited the class with the Greek community, teaching the language to 16 students.
“Most of these students haven’t been exposed to the written language but have heard it verbally in their homes,” Ms Spanos said.
“They love learning about the rich and diverse culture, with regular lessons and singing and dancing.”
After just five weeks of lessons aimed at primary aged children, Ms Spanos said the school is looking to expand to high school aged and adult classes.
The class runs every Wednesday from 4 to 6pm at the Greek church hall.
