With only space on the Wagga under 18’s hockey squad for half of the teens who were vying for a position on the team, coach Pat O'Donnell had a tough time making the cut.
“I’m quite amazed by how many 18 year-old boys are committed to go away for hockey,” he said.
“They’re coming along great as a team.”
The team has been announced and they have a big year of events ahead.
Most of last year’s squad has come back for more, but a few boys have aged-out and paved the way for younger players to have a crack.
The season starts with State Championships at Newcastle from May 12-14.
The team will also compete in the annual Steakhouse Cup against Albury.
In October, they will defend the President’s Cup, playing against an ACT team.
