Surgeons concluded the boy’s hand was too badly damaged to repair and performed the amputation at a Sydney hospital last week.
The child was inside the kitchen of Lebanese restaurant Al Sultan with his mother and grandparents when he was trapped inside the mincer.
SafeWork NSW have since revealed that investigations are continuing into the conduct of the Forsyth Street business.
“It is unknown whether there will be prosecution at this stage,” a spokesperson for the authority said.
“The incident is still under investigation.”
Al Sultan has been closed since January 31, when the chilling incident took place.
NSW Paramedics duty operations manager Inspector Eamonn Purcell revealed the boy had to be conveyed to hospital while his hand was trapped inside the machinery.
