The gay marriage myth
I HAVE noticed that many of the writers opposing same sex marriage have a religious angle to their letters.

I would like to remind them that there are many religions in Australia and not all of them oppose same sex marriage.
The Marriage Act 1961 did not specifically mention a definition of marriage.
It was not until until Phillip Ruddock introduced an amendment in 2004 that marriage was stated as being between a man and a woman and excluded same sex marriage.
There was no plebiscite or referendum.
The parliament voted on the issue and the amendment was passed.
Why is it when the government don't want to change something they suddenly need a plebiscite that they don't have to follow anyway?

Where’s the justice?
WHO would want to be a policeman?
Finally they get to arrest two people in relation to all the home burglaries. An Aladdin’s Cave of stolen property is found – you beauty.
The two scum attend court and are given suspended sentences.
Are the judges living in la la land?
Get your heads out of your arses and punish them.

A slap on the wrist
AFTER reading in the DA a magistrate has given a suspended sentence to two of the people that are responsible for receiving stolen goods associated with the crime spree in Wagga, I think It’s no wonder the police have a hard time coping with the scum that persist in breaking into decent family homes.
Not to be outdone, I read the lowlife that allegedly assaulted the young policewoman has been granted bail.
Why are the courts getting softer on crime?
Wake up call for all magistrates – you may be the next victim.

Third world power
I RECENTLY returned from Pyongyang, capital of North Korea, and surprisingly it had one thing that Lake Albert does not have, a reliable electricity supply.
In my whole time in Pyongyang, no blackouts occurred, yet here at Lake Albert it’s a weekly experience.
To be stuck in 40 degree heat with no power and not the slightest drop of rain or gust of wind and the power goes out for three or four hours is infuriating.
Why is this allowed to happen when we are paying top dollar for the electricity, when they bother to supply it?
This is a question I would like answered but don't ring the supplier, they just don’t answer the phone.
I find it unacceptable that I am receiving an electricity supply far worse than the third world.
Perhaps total privatisation may be the answer?

Have a purple heart
THROUGHOUT March, communities around the world are dedicated to raising awareness of epilepsy, culminating in Purple Day on March 26.
During this time, people wear purple and hold events to raise funds and awareness of the condition that will affect more than 800,000 Australians in their lifetime.
This Purple Day, Epilepsy Action Australia would like to encourage communities to shine a light on epilepsy by lighting up purple a local landmark.
