A forgiving nature
IT WAS my car that you had in the paper this week (Daily Advertiser, February 13, “Quiet street alight with vandalism”) that was burned out, the most beautiful car that I’ve ever owned.

Being 73 years of age and only ever once claiming for insurance when I was 16, I‘d like to thank the NRMA.
They have been absolutely brilliant; what they have done from Friday night to now is unbelievable.
To Graham Hull Smash Repairs for removing that car on a Sunday, I say thank you and I now have a Thrifty rental car.
All this was done in the middle of the night.
To the police that were involved in the chase and tried to catch him, I say thank you.
How he got past my half-Alsatian dog is just unbelievable but he did come through the bedroom and the dog thought he was sleeping in the house and everything was okay.
That dog normally won’t let anyone in the house unless she knows you but coming from the bedroom he was safe.
To that kid that drove that car, congratulations – you must’ve been very quiet because what you did and not disturb one of my dogs is just unbelievable.
There must be a job for someone like you with your talent.
You have a rare talent and you should use it for something positive.
Maybe the police will catch you but ask me to be your character reference because what you achieved here that night I would have thought impossible.
Let me say one more thing to you.
When i was 16, I bought and paid cash for one of the first Ford Falcons of the Australian line, which I was very proud of.
I am a Christian, I forgive you in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit.

Hands off marriage
THE Daily Advertiser on Monday, February 6 carried an account of the renewed advertising campaign for same-sex “marriage”, a media blitz to run all through the month while parliament sits.
The aim is to allow MPs a free vote on the issue, rather than a vote by the Australian people.
The cry for equality is deceptive and deceitful.
Where was equality for the law graduates (my previous letter in the DA on January 18), denied accreditation to practise due to Canada’s legislation of same-sex marriage.
Supporters of same-sex marriage are fraudulent for claiming what purports to be a very small change to the definition of marriage turns out to be a very large change – a radical change – to key elements of society: to the education of children (Safe Schools program), the liberties of speech, conscience and religion, the power balance between family and government, and the very meaning of male and female (gender fluidity nonsense).
Society has given everything possible to our fellow citizens who are same-sex attracted.
They have full equality under the law as individuals and as couples, with no discrimination whatsoever, affectionate treatment in the media and popular culture, genuine camaraderie in our workplaces and clubs, exhortations in our churches that they must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity.
We only ask the drivers of the gender movement, do not usurp the one institution that is built around the child and her kinship bonds, that is founded on a truth of nature, not a fashion of ideology.
This is a deeply hostile deconstruction of marriage, this coercion of conscience.
It has been said before: Don’t mess with marriage!
