The Beach Boys came on stage and their washed-out concert from Saturday was forgotten.
A mosh pit formed with a mixture of children and people who would remember The Beach Boys’ first single release.
Those who stayed seated clapped their hands as the band belted out their hits.
The crowd was a sea of Hawaiian shirts, leis and multiple generations.
But no matter the age differences, the enthusiasm was high among all attendees.
Wagga’s Brett Parsell washed his 20-year-old Hawaiian shirt on Sunday in anticipation of returning on Monday night.
“Hats off to the boys for coming back,” he said.
“I’ve got a new respect for them.
“I was stoked.”
Harry Mangelsdorf, 16, was born about 40 years after The Beach Boys formed but was just as enthusiastic to see their show.
He said he could not believe they were coming back and got tickets last-minute.
“They have an iconic sound,” he said.
There were fewer food vans but more toilet facilities than Saturday.
Lead singer Mike Love thanked the crowd for returning and organisers for facilitating the show on short notice.
Promoter Steve Scherri said there was an estimated 3000 people at Monday’s concert, about 500 more than at the weekend.
