Wagga City Wanderers’ youth-grade sides, under 20’s and under 18’s, went head-to head, in a pre-season intra-club trial match on Sunday.
Under 18’s rendered the older lads scoreless for two of three thirds, leaking three goals in the final third to lose the match.
Under 18’s winger Jacob Ochieng was a standout, along with under 20’s defensive and attacking mids Sam Jones and Zac Pinney.
Club veteran Liam Dedini said the teams are in good stead for state league kickoff in April.
“Both teams are working with a structured build-up and once it gets to the top third, there are some fast, creative players who are able to break through and get some shots on goals,” he said.
“Once they get a few games under their belt, everything will click. If we can start like that and keep improving, there are good things to look forward to.”
