Jessica Dawson and Stuart Carey were announced as the 2017 Faces of the Carnival at the Australia Day Races.

Mr Carey, a 19-year-old student and bar tender, was shocked when his name was announced but pleased he will be able to attend a Gold Cup on the other side of the bar.
“It will be good to be out there and enjoying it rather than be behind the bar,” he said.
“I just love everything about the races and Gold Cup.”
Miss Dawson, a 25-year-old lawyer, is excited to get a behind-the-scenes insight into the racing world.
“It’s a good opportunity to see racing from a different perspective … and it’s a nice way to showcase the city,” she said.
“I want to represent the MTC as well as I can and get out talking to people.”
Miss Dawson and Mr Carey will feature on promotional material for the 2017 Gold Cup carnival and attend the 100 Club dinner.
