The endless debate of which four-wheel drive is best has come to a head with Toyota’s ute topping car sales across Australia in 2016 for the first time.
Conquering mud and hills, rocks and ruts, Anthony Manning says there’s nowhere he can’t go with his vehicle.
The Wagga trucker says he’ll always stick with the HiLux no matter what.
The 27-year old said he’d been hooked on the vehicle ever since he was little and used it for farm work, off-roading, fishing and camping.
“I use it for what it’s made for,” Mr Manning said. “It’s about personal preference but it’s also what you hear about them.”
When a mate purchased a Triton and confessed he’d gone for the second best due to pricing, Mr Manning asked him what he considered to be the best.
“He said the Hilux,” Mr Manning said. “It’s a very reliable vehicle and easy for modification.”
“Stoked”, the Wagga Toyota manager Col McGill said passenger vehicle sales were falling in place of dual-cab utilities as they could be used for a variety of purposes.
“The market is changing,” he said. “There’s a fair few more options now compared to 10-years ago.”
