Gestier, who signed with the Demons in July, is on the comeback trail after undergoing a knee reconstruction earlier in the year.
Gestier has been taking part in the Demons pre-Christmas training regime and is confident he will be right to take on Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong in round one on April 23.
“I’ve been training, not doing any contested work yet,” Gestier explained.
“I’ve been doing all the running and other drills. I’m definitely on track for round one.
“I’m feeling confident and will begin to step it up after Christmas.”
Collingullie-GP held five sessions before Christmas and Gestier, in his first coaching role, is happy with how things went.
“We started at the start of December and had five runs,” he said.
“The numbers have been really good and we’ve been getting 20 plus each night with a good mix of players.”
Collingullie-GP, who went down in extra time in this year’s first semi-final, started the off-season with a bang.
Gestier’s appointment was a coup and it was followed by the return of accomplished full-forward Marc Geppert after three seasons at Farrer League club East Wagga-Kooringal.
Since then, the Demons have been quiet and have lost premiership players Harry Perryman (GWS Giants), Tim Haines (Culcairn), Geoff Spriggs (Marrar) and Brayden Ambler (Temora).
Gestier said the Demons were still in talks with a couple of prospective recruits but was happy with the squad at his disposal regardless.
“We’re still talking to a couple,” he said.
“There is a couple in the pipeline but I’ve just been concentrating solely on pre-season at the moment.”
The Demons will return to training on January 30.
They will hold a pre-season camp before two pre-season trial games against, most likely, Marrar and East Wagga-Kooringal.
