With Lloyd coming on as the Bulldogs captain-coach, Duffy has elected to join him.
Lloyd believes Duffy’s decision to switch Group Nine clubs will be a big boost.
“We are pretty lucky to get him as he can play quite a few positions, so it works out pretty well,” Lloyd said.
“He can play at lock, in the halves and has even played fullback before so it will be good to have him.”
It is not the first time the Englishman has played at Cootamundra, after being with the Bulldogs in 2011 and 2012 before joining Kangaroos.
“I put it to him and asked if he wanted to come over and at first he was unsure as he wanted to stay loyal to Kangaroos, which is fair enough,” Lloyd said.
“But he’s played for Coota before and we’ve been talking a bit over the last few weeks and he’s decided to come across.
“He is a good signing as he is just competitive and you know what you are going to get from him.”
Duffy has spent the last three seasons in a plethora of roles for the Wagga club, and Lloyd is unsure where he will slot into the new-look Bullodgs.
“At this stage I’m unsure, but we will talk about it and once we train a bit more, work out what we need and where he is comfortable we will go from there,” he said.
Lloyd and Duffy are Cootamundra’s only signings so far and continue the large trend of player movement between Group Nine clubs this off-season.
