Today’s maximum of 33 marks the first 30 degree day of the season, with locals to sweat out a five-day hot spell as the mercury remains in the thirties until Wednesday.
The temperature spike marks a rapid rise above the month’s 25.8 degrees average.
“We’re expecting some more northerly winds coming from central Australia which is why the temperature is warming up a bit,” Wagga Bureau of Meteorology's Nigel Smedley said.
Mr Smedley said record rainfall and cloud cover had contributed to temperatures remaining in the twenties until mid November.
“We had record rainfall for September and above average rainfall for October,” he said.
