Mr Raynes, the front man and founder of iconic local folk band the Tin Shed Rattlers, passed away on Wednesday, aged 77.
In late 2015, Mr Raynes was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a form of cancer associated with exposure to asbestos.
Undeterred, the laid-back musician intensified his charity work, helping raise funds for the Riverina Cancer Care Centre (RCCC) through the band’s monthly Downside Hall bush dance and even releasing a CD of his music.
“He was a real character and a great supporter of the cancer care centre,” RCCC chief physicist Nick Menzies said.
Mr Raynes’ funeral will be held on November 23 at Wagga Crematorium from 2.30pm.
