Mr Croker of H Francis and Co won the Mike Nixon shield for excellence in marketing.
The award is an initiative of the Australian Livestock and Property Agents (ALPA) and acknowledges and remembers the work of the late Mike Nixon who worked as a market reporter and analyst for Rural Press and Fairfax publications.
After a whirlwind trip to Sydney for the presentations on Friday night Mr Croker was back in Wagga for the cattle sale on Monday.
He said it was encouraging to be recognised by some of the leaders in the industry.
He said the aim was to do the best for his livestock clients.
“It is exciting and it is good for Wagga too because it recognises what we do here,” he said.
Mr Croker has worked in the industry for eight years and was recognised for his efforts in coordinating a major flock dispersal sale in southern NSW.
Finalists in the national award included:
- Jeanette Laffan from Rodwells Ruralco Property in Kilmore Victoria
- Samuel Hunter from Landmark in Yass
- Paul Kilby from Elders in Roseworthy South Australia.
Mr Croker has earned a trip to the 2017 Calgary Stampede with Quadrant Ag Tours.
The nomination process assesses a candidate’s expertise, largely focusing on innovative marketing, industry awareness, business relations and ethical behaviour and presentation and elocution, all imperative qualities of a well-rounded marketing professional.
The award was inaugurated in 2005 following the untimely death of Mr Nixon.
ALPA baord member Cyril Close was one of the three judges who interviewed the finalists.
“The calibre of the candidates was outstanding. They all demonstrated their hard work and dedication to the agency profession, and the marketing initiatives they have implemented are to be commended,” Mr Close said.
