After a tough month with his stables hit by the floods, Sutherland has bounced back in fine style with four winners in three days.
Like he did at Wagga on Saturday, Sutherland claimed a race-to-race double at Narrandera, this time with Oh What A Thief ($6.00) and Hangin’ With Willy ($26.00) as both got home in photo finishes.
Oh What A Thief fought strongly to edge out Great Panache the Narrandera Argus Class Two Handicap (1400m) for jockey Michael Travers.
Hangin’ With Willy then got the better of Under The Eaves in a bobbing finish to win the Process Printers Class One Handicap (1000m) for apprentice jockey Miki Nakao.
Hangin’ With Willy’s victory capped off a good couple of days for the Boys ‘n’ Babes syndicate after they also enjoyed success with Willy White Socks at Wagga on Saturday.
Nakao said Hangin’ With Willy had returned in good order.
“This prep he’s been going really good,” Nakao said.
It was a good day for Wagga trainers with Gary Colvin and Chris Heywood both landing wins.
Hay Grazer ($2.40) broke his maiden for Colvin and Nick Souquet, while Ketchum ($7.00) made it two from two since returning from injury for Heywood and apprentice Lily Coombe.
