The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) hosted a Gone Fishing event to encourage people to fish in our waterways.
“We want to promote the opportunity to enjoy recreational fishing,” Narrandera Fisheries Centre hatchery manager Matthew McLellan said.
“The whole day was really positive.
“Wagga is really lucky having Lake Albert literally in the town.”
More than 1000 people attended the event on Sunday and Mr McLellan said it is an indication recreational fishing is growing in the region.
Lake Albert benefits from the state government’s stocking program that releases Murray cod and golden perch in there each year.
