At around 8pm on Wednesday evening, the car crossed the Olympic Highway bridge over the rail lines, heading towards Wallendbeen.
In coming down off the bridge, the driver lost control of the ute after swerving to avoid an animal that ran across the road.
The car crashed over an embankment and into the dam, writing off the car.
The driver was able to escape the ute and was unharmed but NSW Fire and Rescue had to be called to remove the ute from the water.
The incident came just hours after NSW Fire and Rescue were called to rail lines east of Manildra Meat abattoir after a dam burst its banks causing a freight train to be stranded after water partially washed away rail lines.
