Whyman graciously accepted the prize on Friday, thanking her coaches, team-mates and sponsor via social media, and was inundated with congratulations from friends and supporters.
Whyman, who plays for W-League club Western Sydney Wanderers, plays in the NPL to keep her skills fresh in the off-season.
It was a tough season for her team, cellar dwellers, Football NSW Institute.
NSW Institute finished last from 10 teams, with a win, three draws and 14 losses.
Though she was well and truly under the pump in goals, as the season wrapped-up, Whyman told the Daily Advertiser it was a positive experience.
There’s no rest for the sporting elite. Whyman’s training hard, and looking forward to her second season in the W-League, which kicks off in early November.
