When the Hawks qualified for the decider two weeks ago, the long-serving clubman was relieved.
But he was also nervous about what another grand final day might have in store.
However, as the sun shone on the celebrating Hawks, Reynolds reflected on the moment that has taken more than three decades to arrive.
“It doesn’t get any better than this,” Reynolds said.
“I’ve never lost faith in the club. I’ve always loved it.
“But it’s better when you get a bloody premiership, I can tell you.”
As Reynolds shared the moment with former president Rob Richards, player after player came to embrace a man who’s been at Gumly since 1976.
“I’ve loved this club from one end to the other but by gee I enjoyed today,” Reynolds said.
“And a double-header! Don’t forget the ressies - they were brilliant.”
Club president Steve Absolum was delighted for his players and those who work behind the scenes.
“We look after our players but they understand too that it’s all about the club. Our first and second graders are a tight-knit group,” Absolum said.
“But that’s the reward – you put the hours in, all our volunteers, and the only way you can reward them is with today’s result.”
