Put people before pups
THERE are two things about the greyhound ban we need to remember.
Nobody likes animal cruelty and people come first in this world.
If all the effort that was put into stopping greyhound racing had been put into saving the starving children or helping the homeless, the world may be a better place.
The government stopped the live cattle export to Indonesia because they were cruel to the cattle, which most people agree with.
But we didn't stop the two Australian men from being shot.

Tune in to the truth
YOUR article “Listeners tune in to alternative” overstates the audience for community radio.
Firstly, SBS and Sky Sports Radio are not community stations, and shouldn’t be grouped as such.
Secondly, breakfast is the peak listening period and audiences traditionally decline during the morning session.
It is incorrect to assume that those who haven’t selected commercial and ABC stations as their most listened to stations are listening to community stations, as the data includes people who are not listening to radio.
Thirdly, the article mixes up data for “station most listened to” (which asks respondents to name one station) and “reach” – which is a measure of the total number of different people who listened to a particular station for at least eight minutes.
Most people listen to more than one station.
Hence, 32.4 per cent of people said Star FM is the station they listen to most, but it reaches 41 per cent of listeners. While community radio serves a valuable role, commercial radio is clearly the most popular form of radio in Wagga.

Sales ban a pet peeve
WELL, well, well, a pet shop not being able to sell pets in Victoria?
Next, they’ll ban AFL football.
Let’s make sure butcher shops don’t sell meat, either.
Mr Editor, my wife was on oxygen for 24/7 for the last six months of her life.
We got a little dog from Bob’s Birds and Pets and that little dog sat on her lap for three hours every morning and kept her company.
After that perfect wife Cathy died and left me on my own, I still have that little dog. That little dog is sitting right next to me.
That little dog did not eat for two weeks after Cathy died, but now she is my dog, she lives inside the house. She lives in the bed and she eats what I eat.
I am also looking after Cathy’s sister’s dog while she is away overseas.
These two dogs come from the same mother and from the same shop; they are sisters, they are great mates.

MP should be spared
IT IS of my opinion that Michael McCormack should not lose his job because of the census kerfuffle.
He is new to his job and he is still learning the ropes.
No one is perfect and we all make mistakes.
I advise people to go easy on Mr McCormack, he just needs a little time and experience to get to know his new role.
