At 38, the flanker was named the Rivcoll Olds Boys Medal winner as the best in the grand final on Saturday.
Since joining the club this season, his work rate has been a big part of Waratahs’ success this season.
It was no different in the most important game of the season.
However, Kearns was just pleased to help Waratahs complete their undefeated season, even though their last performance was far from their best.
“It wasn’t pretty out there but grand finals are rarely pretty,” Kearns said.
“We talked at the start of the week that it doesn’t come down to individual performances it is a team performance .
“Individually we were pretty ordinary but we just held it as a team.”
Kearns was also impressed by Wagga City’s efforts at the breakdown as they came within a penalty goal of causing a huge upset.
