But the service will be free for private health insurance patients.
Flat screen televisions with free to air channels, radio and eight movie channels will be available for $10 per day with discounts for pensioners, health care card holders and long stays.
Corporate and business services manager Michael Morris said the new service commenced on Monday August 8.
“Several areas of the hospital will continue to provide complementary free-to-air television, including foyers and the Emergency Department, Emergency Medical Unit, the Renal Dialysis Unit and the Transit Lounge,” he said. “The move to a user-pays service is in line with many other hospitals across NSW and allows the Local Health District to focus on providing clinical care.”
The service is managed by Hills Health Solutions which already provides it to more than 30 metropolitan and regional hospitals in NSW.
