Six current councillors have put their hand up to run again, with nine other residents also nominating.
Those vying for the nine seats on Leeton Shire Council are Paul Maytom, George Weston, Peter Davidson, Tracey Morris, Emerson Doig, Michael Kidd, Arnah Garwood, Pat Bowles, Tony Ciccia, Tony Reneker, Sandra Nardi, Bill Barwick, Michael Ierano, Maryann Vitelli and Paul Smith.
Following the close of nominations on Wednesday a ballot draw was conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission in Griffith.
Council director of corporate services Duncan McWhirter was pleased to have a range of diversity among the candidates.
“It’s pleasing to have so many put up their hands after last time where we only had eight and were required to have a by-election to fill the final spot,” Mr McWhirter said.
“It’s great to see a range of different ages, gender, experience levels and the like as well. With the Fit for the Future process it seems interest from the community in local government has increased, which is pleasing.”
