Current Greens councillor Kevin Poynter will be supported by Quaker Michael Bayles, educators Jacquie Tinkler and Emma Rush, and former deputy mayor Ray Goodlass.
Cr Poynter said drugs and alcohol were making the city streets dangerous at night.
“I want to work with business to establish a night time economy to combat violence in our main street, by providing alternatives to the culture of excessive drinking and substance abuse,” Cr Poynter said.
Cr Poynter, who managed fourth in last month’s federal election behind independent and now council rival Richard Foley, will also focus on “appropriate development in our neighbourhoods”.
Ray Goodlass said the reduction in the number of councillors from 11 to nine risks watering down diversity and “Kevin has been an important alternative voice in the chamber”.
