The second-cross Dorsets were offered by vendors the Goldsworthy family of “Courallie”, Wantabadgery and secured by four different buyers.
Lauren Goldsworthy – a lung transplant recipient – was at the sale and said the result was excellent.
She said the returns were more than her family initially hoped for and she was grateful for the buyer competition and support.
The 108 lambs – which were of exceptional quality – were sold by Elders Wagga auctioneer Joe Wilks and secured by JBS, Swift, Southern Meats and TFI.
Miss Goldsworthy said she received her transplant in December 2014.
Before the sale this week she was able to help out in the sheep yards and draft up the lambs ready for auction.
“Before the transplant I wouldn’t have been able to do that,” she said.
“I wouldn’t of had the energy.”
All of the proceeds from the sale were donated to Lung Transport Research and the selling agents waived the commission to support the cause too.
Overall the sheep and lamb market was quoted as being “a few dollars a head” dearer across the board.
Skin prices were still down due to the shut down of tanning factories in China.
