It is believed nine of the current 10 councillors will re-contest their positions in September’s city council election.
The revelation has been met with calls for a greater mix of age and genders among the local government team.
Wagga entrepreneur Simone Eyles, who will stand as an independent, is among those rallying for fresh faces to be given a chance.
“We need new people, new ideas and a broad range of diversity at the forefront of the community if we don’t want to be left behind," she said.
“We’re falling behind with infrastructure and it’s time to take some action, especially with the Integrated Transport Study being delayed again.
“It is about time we saw change.”
Meanwhile councillor Julian McLaren, who has decided he will not run in the upcoming election, said it is important to purge the “dankly old mentality” from the current selection.
“We need fresh, younger faces in between 30 and 50 years with a family and a business, varying views, people who are passionate and ambitious,” Cr McLaren said.
He described the term just passed as a “dramatic improvement” from the previous councillor board.
“I don’t think infighting really impacted upon us at all, we considerably lifted the bar but it’s still well below what is expected by the public.”
Voting will be conducted September 10.
