Justin ‘Busty’ O’Reilly is a cheeky, happy-go-lucky character who was shaken when he was diagnosed with melanoma in December last year.
It first appeared on his upper thigh then spread to his groin and left lung.
After his third operation, recent scans revealed it has spread again.
Mr O’Reilly is taking part in a new trial and had his first immune therapy on July 8.
Friends Tania Jones, Jenny Burley, Angela Sandford and Anita Gentles are hosting a trivia night to raise money for Mr O’Reilly, his wife Nat and their children Claudia, 16, Brayden, 10, and Mia, eight.
“I think we all thought he’d be fine,” Mrs Jones said.
“We were shocked.
“It’s too close for comfort.”
Mr O’Reilly is a private man but wants his diagnosis to be a warning that it can happen to anyone.
The sold-out trivia night will be held at the Kildare Catholic College hall on August 12.
