Down on numbers, the Wanderers narrowly defeated their rivals last week, and hoped the inclusion of Ally McLeod and Sam Mangelsdorf would help against Hurstville in Sydney.
However, Hurstville bounced back from a loss to St George last week with a 3-0 win.
“We got done,” Wagga coach Andrew Douglas said.
“They’re one of the top teams for a reason.”
“They were extremely good and very, very sharp.
“They dominated possession, we had a couple of chances to apply some pressure back, but they were a good team.”
