Persecution, political oppression and red tape tore Hung Kee and Thang Shien apart for nearly nine years, but love finally brought them together.
Their story came to a fitting closure on Saturday when the two Burmese refugees tied the knot and married in the Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Mr Kee, who awaited the day for years, described it as “one of the best in his life”.
“I believe in God, and so I believed God would reunite us,” he said.
“My prayers are answered.”
The couple wore traditional Myanmar clothing at the wedding service, attended by roughly 100 people.
Emotionally reunited at Wagga’s airport in April, the two refugees melted hearts across the city and beyond.
