I HAD last week off (from writing) mainly due to the fact that there wasn’t much happening on the fishing front – well, so I thought – and we also had the Freeze Your Bum Off trip up to Eucumbene.

I will give you a quick – unfortunately that all I can give you – rundown of how we went.
There was only four of us who braved the cold and headed up the mountain.
Halfway up Talbingo we started to see snow and as we got higher obviously more snow, then a bit more snow and then a lot of snow.
Very picturesque quiet pleasant in the car, the outside temp was reading -1, but the sun was shining so all was good.
We arrived at our accommodation, unloaded the gear and straight to the water, backed the boat in and bogged.
It wasn’t a bad bog, but bogged just the same. Got the boat off the trailer, still bogged, disconnected the trailer, still bogged, trusty snatchem strap and out, all the while I am sitting in the boat watching from the water, not saying anything as it was my vehicle that was stuck.
The boys – Wayne Sanbrook, Mathew Storm and Mark Cooper – didn’t need help, especially from me who was just floating in the water watching. As I said, I got the vehicle and trailer out and they went round to the Adaminaby boat ramp, while I shot around there by boat to pick up my fishing partner Wayne.
It was about 10km by car and 15km by boat, so we were on the water at about 4.30pm, rods out with a nice spread of shallow lures and diving lures.
After five minutes trolling, I’m on to a nice rainbow of about 40cm, the wind was blowing a bit and the boat headed for the bank with me fighting the fish.
The boat stopped at the bank, got the fish in, a couple of high fives and away we went again.
I would love to tell you more fishing stories, but unfortunately that is where it ended, we tried everything, every lure in our boxes, up, down, short, long all to no avail for the rest of the weekend and we only saw one other boat clean one other fish.
Maritime and Fisheries were there checking all the boats and a couple fell foul for not having the correct safety equipment and not having their fishing licence on their person. Make sure you have everything in the boat and you will avoid any issues.
We were blown off the water on the Saturday for a few hours but it made no difference when we got back on.
What a difference a week makes though.
Chappo went up last weekend and caught a couple of great fish.
So the figure for the last two FYBO tours is one fish.
Next year’s FYBO trip will be called LGTTC - Lets Go To The Coast - trip.
For those who are interested and no one wore the wedding dress cos we couldn’t get into the Snow Goose as it was booked out.
We did have some good laughs and some relaxation so it was still worth it.
Anytime fishing is always worth it, fish or no fish.

WAGGA Swap meet is on this weekend and if it is like other years there will be some old fishing gear for the collectors or to enhance the look in the cave, just be willing to haggle.

THE Sydney boat show is on in a couple of weeks, I haven’t attended this show since it has moved to Glebe Island so I can’t say that it is good, bad or indifferent.
I will be going to have a look to see if it is different/better/worse than the Melbourne show, so if you are going I might just see you there.

TO GET in a bit early, there will be a family fishing comp on at Lake Albert, put on by Anglers for Fish Habitat, on August 12 and 13.
There will be a boat show ‘n’ shine on Friday afternoon, fishing comp, casting comp, educational talks, presentation and an auction on Saturday.
For more information get on their facebook page or contact the Boat Club.

NO FISHING Around this weekend as not too many people have ventured out in the not so nice weather, those that did, did catch a couple of fish and probably out fished me so I am not going to make mention of that fact.
And for those that didn’t know, NSW have won one game in a row – yay.
