Hamilton is free to play for Coleambally in Saturday’s important showdown against North Wagga after AFL Riverina’s investigating officer dismissed the case against him.
Barellan cited Hamilton for an alleged head butt on Matt Irvin during Coleambally’s 28-point win over the Two Blues on July 2.
A guilty finding could have spelt disaster for Coleambally as just five rounds remain until the Blues’ embark on their most important finals campaign since joining the Farrer League in 2011.
But Hamilton is now free to face the Saints on Saturday after Barellan’s citation was sensationally dismissed.
“On the evidence received it appears that no such incident, as referred in the citing, occurred in the second quarter,” AFL Riverina’s investigating officer found.
“Accordingly the player Hamilton has no case to answer.”
It is understood an inconsistency in Barellan’s statements led to the citation being dismissed.
Barellan’s citation is believed to have mistakenly confused the first and second quarters, as to when the alleged incident took place.
Meantime, Coleambally will still front the AFL Riverina tribunal at Ganmain on Wednesday night to fight the case of Brendan Hardy.
Hardy was reported for unduly rough play on Barellan’s Stephen Conlan and the Blues will fight the two-game base sanction.
