The Blues made it seven wins on the trot as they fought back from a half-time deficit to run out comfortable winners, 11.14 (80) to 9.8 (62).
A big third quarter performance proved the difference as Coleambally piled on five unanswered goals to set up a match-winning 24-point lead.
A four-minute period where Coleambally kicked three goals, including two to Jack Painting, swung the momentum in the visitors’ favour.
The Bombers continued to threaten and got within 16 points on a couple of occasions but Coleambally always had an answer.
Coleambally captain-coach Josh Hamilton was pleased to square the ledger with Marrar for earlier in the year.
“We always knew it was going to be a tough battle and it was up to half-time and then we were able to get on top,” Hamilton said.
“When I first came out to Coly and asked about Marrar they told me it is always a tough battle no matter where they are on the ladder.
“They beat us at home by two points so to come over here and get that win is massive for us, and for where we’re looking to go anyway.”
Hamilton said the major aim spoken about at half-time was to start winning the contested ball.
“We gave away a few 50 metre penalties and stuff like that so we had to cut that down,” he said.
“We weren’t doing anything massively wrong, we just needed to get our hands on the footy first so the umpires didn’t have any other option.
“That was the main thing, it wasn’t panic stations or anything like that.”
Wes Kiley was sensational for Coleambally across half-back.
Brad Turner picked up an early injury and moved deep into attack and the Bombers then fell down across centre-half-forward.
Kiley exposed that and provided drive, while Mitch Carroll was good, in and under, in the midfield.
Brandon Mathews was Coleambally’s most dangerous forward, finishing with four goals, while Chris Cerato was also very good.
The only disappointing news for the Blues was a shoulder injury to James Fallon.
For Marrar, Turner was always a threat every time the Bombers got it near him and he finished with three goals, while Josh Hagar worked hard through the midfield.
Hamilton was thrilled to land seven straight.
“The reason why we’re there is because the boys continuously turn up ready, and it’s a team effort, there are no individuals. That’s the best thing about it and what makes it so enjoyable.”
