The 15-year-old league player suffered a concussion injury following a tackle last month and tragically passed away in hospital three days later.
His parent’s business, Gino’s Fruit and Veg, has not been operational since the accident.
A bank account has been opened at the Bendigo Bank in Gundagai with the aim of raising funds to support the family in coming months.
“Just to give them a bit of a leg up, or maybe so they can just get away on a family holiday for a while,” a post on the Gundagai Tigers Facebook said.
The Gundagai Tigers are getting behind the fundraiser and encouraging people to donate and spread the word.
The account will be open for two months with no withdrawals taken until the end when the entire amount will be handed to the family.
Donations can be made at Bendigo Banks or electronically. Account name: Polimeni Family Fund, BSB: 633000, account number: 157599408.
