Geppert booted his 1000th AFL Riverina goal in the second term on his way to an eight-goal haul in the Hawks’ win over Barellan, 17.14 (116) to 6.4 (40) at Gumly Oval.
It was not all good news for the Hawks with two players controversially reported in the game.
Bryce McPherson (late hit) and Zac Robinson (sling tackle) were both yellow carded and reported late in the third quarter.
EWK coach Gavin McMahon was happy enough with the Hawks performance.
“Coming off a double bye, we were a bit slow to get going but we improved from the first quarter to the last,” McMahon said.
“Barellan were up and about and made us work hard but we will take the win and move on.”
Luke Cuthbert was the Hawks’ best across half-forward and through the midfield, also finishing with four goals.
