One of those was Chris Kanck, a horticulturist who channeled his “crush on Poison Ivy” with an out-of-the-ordinary outfit.
While he wasn’t able to perform photosynthesis, Mr Kanck turned heads around the carnival with his ”once-in-a-lifetime” rendition of a garden plant.
With green spray-painted gloves and shoes, the “tree man” was able to plant the seed for eccentric outfits in Gold Cups to come.
The Wagga resident took to the fashions on the field competition for the first time ever to test his creation against today’s standard.
“I’m not into fashion by any means but I thought I’d put my creation in there, it seemed like a bit of fun and quite funny,” Mr Kanck said.
“I’m big on plant hire, and I thought I’d help spread the word on this beautiful day, because plants thrive in sunlight.”
While the plant enthusiast was unsuccessful in capturing the fashion crown, he said the day was still thoroughly enjoyable.
