Farmers across the region are still “sweating on rain” after the forecast weekend rain didn’t eventuate.

Mangoplah-based mixed farmer, Pat Roberts said they had “very little” rain over the weekend.
“I think it fizzled,” he said.
“I’ll believe it when I see it (good rain). At the moment it doesn’t seem to know how to rain properly but things can turn around pretty quick.”
The third-generation farmer runs sheep and cattle, sows oats and runs a fertiliser spreading business.
“I need to wait for rain (to sow) the ground is too hard but there is a lot of crop in and farmers are sweating on good rain,” Mr Roberts said.
Despite the lack of rain, sheep and cattle are doing well thanks to warmer temperatures but without rain soon Mr Roberts believes he will need to start hand feeding when temperatures drop.
“Hopefully we will get some rain before frosts start,” he said.
April 30 saw Wagga receive the most rain all month at 5.2mm while just 3.6mm fell on Sunday. More than 15mm was originally forecast for the weekend.
