This run will see 250 prime movers and 400 trailers deliver more than 12,000 bales to drought-stricken farmers.
Riverina Plant Hire in Wagga is sending two trucks and five people on the run.
“The boss has given us all a couple of days off and the trucks to use,” senior driver trainer Stephen Smith said.
“It’s good to be in a position to be able to stop work for a couple of days to go up and help.
“If we don’t have farmers we don’t have anything.”
Organiser Brendan Farrell hopes to see more donations come in to support truck drivers on this run and future ones.
“There are more runs coming later in the year,” Mr Farrell said.
Donations can be made to the Rotary Club of Sydney. BSB: 062 438. ACC: 10211156. Description: Drought Appeal.
The run leaves Darlington Point on Thursday March 31 and arrives in Ilfracombe on April 1.
