IT’S not quite Raging Bull or Field of Dreams, but Tumut captain-coach Luke Srama reckons the script is “perfect” for the Blues to make an impact on the Group Nine premiership.

After a four lean years, finishing no closer than seventh, Tumut seems on the cusp of a remarkable resurgence in 2016.
Taking stock following a coordinated recruiting campaign which netted five quality players, Srama believes Tumut is ready to erase some sorry memories.
“It’s all been perfect,” Srama said.
“Everything’s in place. The planning and preparation have all been like a good movie.
“The boys are all ready to go.”
Just over two weeks out from playing Southcity in the season opener at Harris Park on April 9, Srama has Tumut’s 15-man squad “pencilled in”.
And highly-rated signings Trent Swanson, Callum Mulkeen, Kieran Sherratt and Jett Hobbs are locked into the team in critical roles.
“They’ll all be playing A grade,” Srama said.
“They’ve all got the right attitude and I think it’s rubbing off on all the boys.”
Significantly, Srama has also got a spot saved for playmaker Dean Bristow, who is back in Tumut following a successful stint with Berry Magpies.
“He’s (Bristow) had a standout pre-season,” Srama said.
“He’s really looked good.”
Essentially a halfback, but equally at home anywhere in the backline, Bristow starred during the Tumut Nines competition, which ran for six weeks and ended last Friday.
Playing with or against most of the Blues senior players, Bristow shared the player of the series award in the Nines, which was no easy feat.
For Srama, the Nines were a valuable asset to the Blues pre-season groundwork.
“The good thing was the boys got match fitness,” he said.
“Most of the players were involved.”
Srama, however, admits playing only one weekend of trials has left him with work to do before the duel with the Bulls in Wagga.
“We’ll really start to ramp things up next week after Easter,” he said.
“Obviously we’ll work more on combinations and do some fine tuning.”
Set to play hooker in the first round, Srama is excited ahead of his Group Nine debut.
“Personally I can’t wait,” he said.
“I think everyone feels the same.”
