Williams made it another successful trip to Wagga as he enjoyed four winners courtesy of Mackellar ($10.00), Immy ($3.10), Martha Mary ($7.00) and Tiger By The Tale ($2.10).
Williams started the day with a bang as unraced two-year-old Mackellar took out the 2YO Maiden Plate (1000m).
Williams was in two minds as to start Mackellar at Wagga or trial her at Rosehill on Monday and was delighted by her one length victory on debut.
“She’s only a two-year-old but she’s been beating older horses on the track at home,” Williams said.
“I was going to trial her again at Rosehill on Monday but decided to give her a start and try to pick up some prizemoney instead rather than paying for a trial.
“She’s got lengths of improvement there, it’s just a matter of how she holds together. She’s looking for 1400 metres.”
Williams also expects improvement from Immy, who showed speed to sit outside the leader and kicked away to score.
“She’s only been back six weeks so this was a barrier trial with benefits,” he said.
The day only got better as Martha May scored at her first start for the stable, and then his best chance of the day, Tiger By The Tale, took out the last.
